Methanol In The Spotlight

Research Spotlight

Our recent paper in JGR on methanol fluxes above a mountain grassland was featured as Research Spotlight in the AGU EOS journal.

Recent News

Accepted for Publication

New manuscripts are now accepted for publication:

Groenendijk et al. (2011) “Seasonal variation of photosynthetic model parameters and leaf area index from global Fluxnet eddy covariance data”

Wohlfahrt et al. (2011) “Wohlfahrt et al. (2011) “Carbonyl sulfide (COS) as a tracer for canopy photosynthesis, transpiration and stomatal conductance: potential and limitations”

New Funding

We received notice that our project „Effects of soil drying on transpiration of Austrian tree species“, in collaboration with Dr. Stefan Mayr (Institute of Botany), Dr. Gerhard Wieser (BFW) and DI Dr. Dieter Stöhr (Land Tirol, Forestry Department), will be funded 2011-2012 within the frame of the StartClim 2011 programme.

New Presentations

Christoph attended the Sparkling Science workshop 2011 in Vienna and presented our project GrassClim.

Georg attended the PhenoAlp final workshop in Torgnon/Italy and gave an invited presentation on “Carbon, water and energy fluxes in Alpine ecosystems”.

And Lukas attended a MUSCATEN – Abba workshop on BVOC emissions in Estonia and gave an invited presentation on “BVOC fluxes over a temperate mountain grassland”.

Presentations All Around

3 New Posters @iLEAPS

We presented 3 posters at the 3rd iLEAPS Science Conference in Garmisch; Ines received an award (2nd place) for her poster on monoterpene deposition to a grassland, Georg presented a poster about the potential of COS as a tracer for photosynthesis, transpiration and stomatal conductance.

Georg also attended the post-conference workshop which discussed challenges and opportunities of integrated longterm LEAP observations.

1 Oral Presenation & 1 Awarded Poster

Lukas and Christoph attended the 12. Klimatag in Vienna; Lukas gave a presentation on “Breathing of the Atmosphere” and Christoph presented a poster on the GrassClim project which won a poster award for most innovative research project.

New Papers Published

New papers have been published and are now available online:

Over 2 growing seasons, we investigated

“Biotic, abiotic, and management controls on methanol exchange above a temperate mountain grassland”
